Sketch the Sydney Harbour with an art professor

Sketching is a wonderful way to capture the essence of what you see in your travels. I have recorded my travels in sketchbooks for over 30 years, and I'd love to teach you how to do the same. Artists of all levels of experience, including beginners, are welcome! • We'll meet at Hickson Road Reserve Park, and I'll hand out sketch paper and pencils. • I'll teach you some essential drawing techniques, and then we'll begin sketching! I’ll assist with tips and guidance as you create your Sydney travel sketch. • You'll have a great view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the ferries, and the Opera House. We'll walk to a second viewing spot in order to capture final touches. You'll gain new drawing skills and confidence, and take home a sketch as a memento of your time in Sydney.

Join a street art expert for a walk through the district, discovering some of its most original works. • Meet up at Newtown Station, where I’ll start by sharing the history of the area and the evolution of murals, from illegal to internationally recognised. • I’ll guide you through hidden alleys to the 19th-century Newtown Courthouse, featured in the Coldplay music video for “A Sky Full of Stars.” • Visit some of the most iconic murals in Newtown, where I’ll share the stories behind the art. You’ll have a chance to pop into a bakery for a lamington or grab a drink at a hidden laneway bar. (The cost of refreshments is not included.) You’ll leave having visited colourful corners of Newtown that no guidebook will ever mention, and with an insider’s perspective on this area’s vibrant art scene.

After picking you up from Sydney in our mini bus, we drive to my hometown of Glenbrook to grab a coffee together at a cool local cafe. Before heading into the local National Park for amazing lookouts. We will take you on a moderate/hard 90min bushwalk via some amazing view points, small waterfalls to the base of a big waterfall in Jamison Valley. The hardest part is optional to skip. We provide a fresh picnic lunch (refer to picture) where we all connect. After lunch we check out the Three Sister Rock formations and many other beautiful stops too. I also do other photoshoots such as weddings/elopements/engagements/events/underwater/half underwater or surf and beach shoots which are listed on my website. You will also find a list of different places in Sydney that I shoot if you are not interested in opera house surroundings. We will get out of the city and hike into the heart of the Blue Mountains. Reconnecting to nature, we'll explore epic waterfalls, massive rock overhangs and breathe in the crisp mountain air on this World Heritage listed National Park walk. This is not your regular commercial tour. With a small-group of like-minded adventurers, you’ll travel by local scenic train from Sydney's CBD to tackle a full-day trek through the Blue Mountains wilderness with a private guide. You will also get to see the iconic Three Sisters. But rather than just going to the viewing platform like everyone else, we will instead plunge deep into the Eucalytus-filled valley and get away from the tourists before before climbing 300m/1000ft (over 800 steps in total!) to emerge right beneath the Three Sisters themselves. Over the course of the day, you'll be smashing your fitness goals and walking 14 km (9 miles) in total. But don't worry about keeping up with the pace. There will be plenty of time to soak it all in and share the good vibes of this walk. You can even pick up an ice cream or a drink at the end. And the best thing about this experience? All the proceeds go to help kids in need, as Emu Trekkers is a 100% not-for-profit organisation run by volunteer guides. Since founding in 2017, we have already donated over $185,000 to the local Indigenous Literacy Foundation and UNICEF Australia.

Come enjoy a morning sea kayak adventure on Sydney's beautiful harbour. No engine noise or fumes, just the sound of your paddle in the water and the sea birds squawking above! We'll experience the built environs and get up close and personal with many of the harbour's natural wonders and marine inhabitants. We'll paddle to the center of the harbour where we'll get some photos of you framed by the Harbour Bridge (I'm a professional photographer in my other job so expect good pics - no charge of course!) We'll then land and explore Goat Island (Memel in the local Aboriginal Language) before paddling back via Darling Harbour. Goat Island is closed to the public and landing is by special permit only. Your permit is arranged for you and included as part of the tour. After we're finished your welcome to have a hot shower before treating yourself to a great lunch at the famous Sydney Fish Market a short walk away. There are also lot's of excellent lunch options minutes away on the famous Glebe Point Road or treat yourself to something really special at the Tramsheds. Our boatshed is easy to get to with plenty of free street parking nearby. We're the only kayak tour run by qualified kayakers that use REAL sea kayaks and top notch carbon fibre paddles.
