We are Liberty Hill Farm, in Rochester, Vermont! Tours run Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 9 am. Our farm tours are scheduled to coincide with daily chores to allow guests the opportunity to experience daily farm life. Guests will be able to watch the cow milking process and even try their hand at milking! From there, we will explain the journey from cow to milk jug. Guests will learn about the different ages and stages of the dairy cow, from birth through adulthood. We will meet, pet, and even feed baby calves, explore the barns, and meet kitties. Every tour is adjusted to meet the needs and interests of our guests. We encourage our guests to participate hands-on, and encourage questions and ideas! We simply love to share our love of farming and our animals with others! ***All proceeds from our farm tours go directly to our nonprofit organization, Liberty Hill Center for Agricultural Education. *** Other things to note: I only book about a month in advance, so if your preferred date does not appear, check back! At Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary our herd of rescued pot bellies are some of our most loveable, exciting and memorable residents! This experience gives you the opportunity for a 15 minute tour of the beautiful 60 acre sanctuary to meet our horses, goats, sheep and cats. Then onto 45 minutes of dedicated time with our herd of pigs! Pigs are often misunderstood, labeled as loud, dirty and not social. This couldn't be further from the truth! Pigs are in fact highly intelligent, emotional and sensitive creatures that thrive with enrichment and human interaction. During your time with the pigs, you will learn the unique stories of each pig and have the chance to groom, feed, cuddle and participate in the various fun enrichment games! If you don't see a date and time that works for you, please reach out to us directly to schedule! Other things to note Whenever you are interacting with animals, it is important to keep in mind that animals can be unpredictable. They may accidentally scratch you or even grab a finger when they mean to grab a treat from your hand. Our pigs are not aggressive generally, but it is always best to be cautious around all animals! Take a guided horseback riding tour on our 300+ acres of private mountain trails lead by an experienced guide. After signing up and meeting the horses, we will show you the skills you need to ride through our trails. You will be accompanied by an experienced trail guide the entire time. This is a beginner friendly ride, most of the ride is walking, we go at the pace of the least experienced rider in the group. If you would like to do some more trotting, don't want to ride in a group, or are experienced, we recommend booking a private ride. The ride itself is 1 hour long and is done in a western saddle. Everything is better with goats. (It's true.) Designed specifically for the people who love being active in the outdoors and also love animals! Come hike with us and our herd of rescued goats through the beauty of the forest tucked into a remote part of the Catskills, just 2 hours from Manhattan. Our goats feel safest with humans and so they magically follow and walk with us through the woods on seasoned trails as we become part of their herd. No leashes needed! We will meander over beautiful streams, enjoying the wildlife and scenery while we forage for some of the goat's favorite treats. We stop midway for a brief rest and water break before finishing our loop, hiking approximately 2.5 miles and taking about 1.5 - 2 hrs, depending on our pace. For those who are interested, your guide can tell you the rescue story of each goat, share their quirks and different personalities and answer any question you might have about goats in general (with a few terrible goat jokes/puns thrown in for good measure.) If you are looking for a unique outdoor experience that combines your love of animals, hiking and nature, this is for you! Traditional art classes can be intimidating. This laid-back atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking to try out their painting skills. Plus, everything is better with GOATS! A brief introduction of the residents and tour of the sanctuary is followed by setting up materials and getting creative. With an approach of “art as therapy”, we can be as instructive or inspiring as each guest needs. We provide the professional art materials, easels, smocks complimentary beverages and the super cute, affectionate goats! You can either bring your masterpiece home or donate it to the sanctuary to help them raise funds. Become an active participant in solving a "Murder in the Mansion" -- held in a real, historic 1888 mansion in downtown Rochester, NY! Event can be booked any evening except Friday/Saturday. Beginning at 6:30 PM, enjoy an evening of laughter and suspense as one of 14 different characters, all the while wining and dining in the mansion. Are you the murderer, and if not, who is? You'll be served a three-course (3 act) meal while participants interrogate each other to discover which has committed the crime. (Similar to an interactive game of Clue). Pricing includes non-alcoholic refreshments, but you are welcome to bring your own alcohol (BYOB). The mansion sleeps up to ten in five beautiful and huge bedrooms. Cold Hollow Cider Mill Experience one of Vermont’s leading producers of apple cider. They also carry a number of other Vermont-made products as well, such as maple syrup and other specialty items. Trapp Family Lodge The Von Trapp family (from “The Sound of Music” fame) chose this location as their home because of the beautiful scenery that reminded them of their native Austria. Smugglers' Notch State Park* This narrow pass through Vermont’s Green Mountains features a steep and winding road, with impressive views of 1,000 foot cliffs above. *(Smugglers’ Notch is closed in Winter. In its place, we will visit Emily’s Covered Bridge, and take a scenic ride through Stowe Hollow). Stowe Village You will also have a chance to explore Stowe village, where lunch is available for purchase. With a population of just over 4300 people, you will find many local artisan shops and number of award-winning specialty foods. PLEASE NOTE: Vermontology Guided Tours has a minimum requirement of at least two guests for a tour to depart. We reserve the right to cancel a tour if we do not meet this minimum.
