There is a beautiful valley, Reykjadalur valley, in the vicinity of Hveragerði town, only some 20 km away from Eyrarbakki. It is so nice to take a hike there. The name of the valley, Reykjadalur, means Steam Valley and you will understand why when the valley opens up after hiking. The valley is filled with hot springs and mud pools, and there is even a hot river in which one can bathe!

Explore the magnificent lava tunnel Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest and best-known lava tubes in Iceland. It is located just 15 minutes from Eyrarbakki and is easily accessed year round.

Selvogur is a small community only 20 km from Eyrarbakki. The community church, Strandarkirkja, as well as a lighthouse are on Cove Engilsvik. Farm Vogsosar was occupied by the reverends, who served the church, until the parish was abolished in 1907. On the property of farm Torfabaer is a small coffee shop and camping grounds.
